I have been gone a while--still concentrating on the weight loss thing and not really creating anything worth posting about. Last week was the worst because as I have told many, my husband sets up my coffee for me the night before (he stopped drinking coffee about a year ago to lower his blood pressure). To make a long story short, he starting using a can of coffee that was in the back of the fridge without reading it--it was decaf. I could not understand why my workout was impossible to get through (I could not raise my heart rate above the 55-60 year-old range) and I started sleeping on both train rides in and out of center city. (I lost my train pass and work ID last week without noticing, I was so out of it.) This week is a different story! I am back to my old morning person self and so very happy. Caffeine is definitely my "drug of choice."
Today, someone added me to their Etsy "circle." I looked at his work--that of a very talented young man--and his mom's work. I have added his mom's blog to my side bar: http://www.creativecarmelina.com/. Check out her Etsy shop and the sweet drawings that are framed by crochet. I just love that idea and will definitely have to steal it for my personal use.
My friend and I took a "Mystery Quilt" class this past weekend. We did not know what we were making until Sunday afternoon. Lots and lots of cutting, which was back-breaking, but I learned a few cutting tips and paper piecing. I think I like paper piecing and have a little Alex Anderson booklet on it with some very pretty patterns. I only hope that I get into the mood to sew again when I come home from vacation. I certainly was not in the mood when this class started--especially with the decaf snafu--but am in the mood now and do not have the time. In the end I did not care for the quilt. Too conservative--I am more into Denyse Schmidt style quilting. (By the way, check out her Facebook page). I will figure out something to do with all of those squares and triangles.
So I am off to Italy next week and will not be able to blog--unless someone explains to me how to do it from my iPad. I am still fretting about what to take as far as art supplies and clothes. Promising myself last year that I would pack light this year. I am trying to take only the things that I use right now, But, of course, I want to play while on vacation and am even planning to take a small knitting project! I was going to make some Koigu peds from the Purl Soho blog, but am now thinking a pair of socks may be better and will have to find a pattern that works for that yarn.
I will try to write again before my departure, but if there is not time, have a wonderful summer!
